Antibody Development

From Binding to Biological Function

A strong antibody needs to perform beyond the binding assay. Our comprehensive assay portfolio helps characterize antibody function, activity, specificity, and mechanism of action across relevant biological systems.

Comprehensive Solutions for Developable Lead Candidates

Antibody Discovery is only half the journey. Identifying and optimizing the perfect lead candidate requires thorough functional validation and robust developability assessment. To ensure long-term success, antibodies must not only bind their target but also demonstrate functional activity, stability, and manufacturability. These critical steps determine whether a promising molecule can become a true development candidate.

Questions and Answers

YUMAB offers a broad range of functional and developability assays to identify your optimal therapeutic lead candidate. We also develop customized assays when a suitable assay is not already available.
Yes. YUMAB can characterize and assess antibodies regardless of where they were generated. Our functional and developability assessment services can be applied to external antibody candidates to evaluate their performance, identify potential liabilities, and support informed lead selection and further development.
Yes. At YUMAB, developability is not considered separately from antibody discovery. We incorporate selected functional and developability assays into the discovery process to gain an early understanding of each antibody’s overall profile and identify potential liabilities at an early stage.
YUMAB uses a combination of bioinformatic analysis and experimental characterization of antbody candidates. Bioinformatic analyses include the prediction of sequence liabilities such as posttranslational modifications or hydrophobic surface patches. These predictions are supported by analyzing aggregation, unspecificity, melting temperature and other predictive properties.
Yes, YUMAB also optimizes the sequence of a lead molecule. Using structure prediction and the design of different variants we can remove potential sequence liabilities and enhance developability properties.
